Those openings are for exhaust tips. Extremely difficult to find. The tips are actuallly chromed castings. Most have suffered from exhaust/ acid...
Those Mercury speedsters got my attention. Really got a great look. Not real familiar with the Frontenac stuff but thought they were OHV...
