Yes sir I plan on making it! Had a piece with my remote oil filter break yesterday while trying to get all the bugs out of it so I may just bypass the filter for now.

Looking good! Still using the same radiator? I gave Ricky that radiator about 10 years ago, I think it came out of a '65-'66 Mustang. Not going to tell you why he needed a radiator but I will tell you to not start the car from outside the car!

The oil filter was an option on the '55 Chev 265cid V8! The VW bug never came with a filter. BTW, most Chev V8 (other makes as well) oil filters have a by-pass valve that is open most of the time the engine is running, not allowing very much oil to run through the filter. Many racers remove the by-pass valve and thread a plug into this hole allowing full flow through the filter.
    Just saying.

I believe I've heard that story abut starting in gear Mr Eddie! It does have an air cleaner on now and for the time being, it's not going to have an oil filter. Definitely had a blast driving around today! Thanks for the pics Barrett

Chance, it was awesome to see you driving that car. I have seen 3 generations behind that wheel dating back to when I was a teenager. You did an awesome job getting it back on the road. I can remember you as a baby saying "that's my grandpa's Woaster". LOL

Great job, now go enjoy it!

That's a great story, three generations running the same roadster! Its a nice little roadster too, for a budget build you have done well mate!
Its a unique feeling when you are out on the street in a car that has been the family for a long time, I was running a 38 Ford club coupe that has been in my family since the mid 70s. When I built my 28 RPU I couldn't stand my father not having a Hot Rod so I gave it to him and my mother as a Christmas gift.
Like I said, its great to see them out and about in it and have the car still in the family. My little sister is right into the scene so I see it staying for quite a few more years.
    Cheers,
    Doc.

Guess I should have re-done the brackets that hold the radiator. Any body have a small radiator for sell?

I'm buying a new one tomorrow and using 2" angle iron rather than the half inch square tubing that was there. Hopefully it will be done tomorrow night!

Lots of friends with lots of knowledge and a pay day every Friday helps a lot!

  21. May I suggest looking into using stainless stay rods (3/8) as they will hold the radiator firm, and I think they look good IMO. JW

x2 on the rods up top. My '26 has them as well (just painted though) and you'll see most if not all old period pictures of guys running without hoods had them too. Well worth a bit of extra fab and bracketry.

Someday I'll get to not be in a rush to get things done and do the rods up top! Whenever I get my 4 deuce intake I plan on having a rod down the middle for that support beam. For now I ended up making some brackets out of angle iron and with my really bad welding skills, welded them on.

After a lot of cursing because I forgot to measure twice and cut once a few times........ I finally got it all together! I just really hope my welds are strong enough 😳. Decided to clean her up for the show in the morning as well!

  24. Sounds good, I had a single centre rod until I got the oil bath air cleaner and had to go around it. Hope it goes well at the show. JW

Welp, I made it to the show! I also placed first in my class! Then on the way back from the show, I just felt like hauling ass with a fellow hamber back to Taylor. Car was running great! My crappy tacs held up well enough but still got Barrett to throw some strong welds on there. Definitely time to replace the front bushings though, car starts to sway around 100mph 👍

I can't ever seem to wait until I have free time to work on the car. Just tonight I got home from class around 11:30, went strait to the shop and replaced all my front bushings. At least it's done and I can cruise to work tomorrow.
