    As long as nothing's moving. I just want to be clear about calcs in statics.

    They assume everything is static.

    Indeed, but a basic understanding of statics is good to have before beginning to think about dynamic calculations.

    Speaking of books, the Dummies books are great primers for math subjects and they make it much easier IMO to read more detailed books like the Schaum's Outline series which includes the math subjects and also basic engineering books like Statics & Dynamics, and Strength of Materials. Happy reading and if you get stuck, take a nap and you'll probably figure it out without trying...

    Statics for dummies was my first one.
    Also looking into taking a few classes for the summer semester
