alright i'll play. heres my 51 buick. 1 and 1/2 coils cut out of the front and el camino springs out back. frame is 6 inches at the rockers. thinking about going lower but not sure yet. its gonna cost more than i have for now but wouldnt mind putting on 2 and 1/2 dropped uprights and c-notching the rear to get her 3 and 1/2 off the ground.

 

Here's my '55... Installed a Camaro clip this winter with stock height spindles and springs.

 

This our 1956 Studebaker no air bags just great chassis work, and never bottomed out in 14 years.

My 64 Biscayne with 2" drop spindles in the front and short coils in the rear. Almost too low. Speed bumps a problem and bottoms out if someones in the back seat and bags in the trunk.

That was featured in Rodder's Digest years ago, right? Love it! If it's the same car I'm thinking, it's stance had a big influence on my '48 Plymouth that was going together about the same time.

My F100 lowered the old fashion way.

 

This was my 27 "T" Coupe, regret selling it now

To be honest the only time I had a problem was when I went over a really large speed bump, which was not regulation height and I knocked the plug out of the sump


My trusty old 1923 Center Door, had it since 1978, low on the front and low enough on the back for comfort.



In the background another sold vehicle 37 Coupe which I lowered again.
Like the raked and like them lower.

When we lowered the 1951 Olds back in 1956, there were people who cut out coils, used clamps to make the lowering simple, and also used smaller rims and tires to get the effect. There were no speed bumps or parking lot bumps, so the only thing was steep driveways to worry about. We used the clamps to see how far we could go before the ride was compromised and whether or not the tires rubbed while driving and turning. The car with clamped springs made noises over the slightest bumps and dips. Then we finally figured out and inch in the back and 1.5 in the front was the max. We had the coils cut and the car rode well as a daily driver. We sold it to a friend in 58, so it lived for quite some time after us with the cut coils. It was a comfortable cruiser and looker.
