And then we have a wonderful package of goodies from my good man at DONOVAN! The gear drive is all dialed in and ready for final engine assembly. I also got the call from Pop Bradford a day ago letting me know that my heads are all done and ready to pick up! Now if I can just get the Damn crankshaft back....

Little bit more each and everyday! The cowl has been trimmed up and looks bitchin. The steering box is nestled right where it belongs, and I think we have just uncovered more original parts in the land Down Under. This is the hardest project I have ever worked on but definitely the most rewarding. We grind on!!!

Did they just put a jack under the lower hoop in the rear to raise the car? Couldn't get to all the Dzus in the belly pan until the wheels came off.

    Tom,

Bruce built the body exactly like it was fresh out of Doug Kruse's shop. To say that it's the best dragster body design is not really true. But it's a work of art and is perfect to the original. Taking the cowl off would be easy but getting the rest of it off is tricky! I imagine back when the guys were running this car they would come back to the cave, pop the cowl, and just pull the motor. Not much remains on the chassis that needed access via the body panels. I would bet that the clutch can never came off during a day at the races. If it did the entire motor was out of the car.

    Cheers,

    RM

There are only 6 Dzus tabs welded to the frame for the body and 14 Dzus's overall (not including the 4 seat). I did put a tab on the lower framerail in front of the rear tire just havent punched the hole, some pics show it some dont , just depends on what month the picture was taken.

I was curious how you'll put a jack under it with the belly pan that remains on.

I'm with the guy above and would give $10 for a ticket right now to see this baby at full throttle through the lights. Tom S. in Tn.

    Not sure Tom.

I was thinking it would be good to add a jack pad somewhere on the back of the car. I did this on my old Shoemaker chassis and it was really nice. No more worrying about scratching up the body or having the thing slip off when you were in the pits.

    Bruce,

Do you think there's room to add a little stub somewhere down there to jack this thing up?

You can put a stub on the rear lower frame rail underneath the spine uprite to move car around with a floorjack or to be able to take the rear tires off to polish, but in order to get the center body off you will either have to get the front end way up off the ground or use a hoist to lift the back of the car up by the cage.

Added the Mag switch and fuel shut off cable yesterday. Also installed the 3rd member to check both driveline alignment as well as the axles assembled into the housing.

Also was able to fit up the chute pack to the car and I'm now ready to finish up the push bar as well as the mount for the chute lines.
