Love this car.. Bummer on the neighbors though. I look forward to the "my neighbors are whining about the open exhaust" thread once this thing is terrorizing the streets. :)

Right now I'm lucky cause they tried to shove their weight around,
    and nothing really happened,
other than isolating themselves from most all the other neighbors,
as we've been in this house for over 5 years now.
They called the cops on one of my kids skating outside one day,
like at 5:30 pm on a school day!
The cops were here for almost 2 hours listening to their BS,
and after that is when they called for the code enforcement thing.
Bummer for them is we can't afford to move!
Yeah before they were dicks I was way more quiet with our RPU,
which has basically an open collector exhaust!

Thanks everyone for checking in and commenting.

SixBall sometimes I consider selling all our cars and stuff,
and going somewhere more off the grid!

Here's just a few shots that I had misplaced...
This was right before the hood welding...
My youngest is going to be trouble!
    Here's a rear shot.
At first I thought about softening that fender/body joint,
but I had welded it as a sharp line.

    Anyway that's it for now!

People who buy in your hood are kinda rich... They feel the money entitles them to special treatment and are less forgiving of the people who share their street... Come be my neighborhood. Working class area and great neighbors! Less likely to run into entitled people:) Then the only neighbor problem you will have is me bugging you to weld up my chit:) Coupe hood came together nice!

Well I just read all 34 pages and I must say someone should make a how to book with Mr. Travis and his cars I think it would be a best seller hell I'd buy it and I hate reading, anyways I love the car and if I had the cash to offer to buy it I would, but all honesty that's what kind of stuff we go to work with down here in fl. I've never seen a project that was rust free. And the new people moving in deal, well when the house on my street gos up for rent and it looks like ill get problems from the people I decide to clean the garage out throw all kinds of stuff all over the yard, run the compressor all the time that there looking at the house and tune the carb on a car with open headers so it stays empty a lot until a car guy moves in then were all good .
Anyways good job on the 40 can't wait for more pics and updates

Hey Guys glad you don't mind the slow progress.
It is amazing how much time a good idea takes to make real!
-my47buicksuper- thanks for slogging through all that.
On build threads, I like to read short paragraphs interspersed with pictures,
otherwise I glaze over a little!

    As to the new neighbors,
    its a tricky situation.
They've called the cops on our neighbors dogs,
and they cut down this huge bush/vine that was growing between the other neighbors property line.
So in a way its good as they've kinda ostracized themselves to their fortress with no allies.
Once they knew we were renters,
I'm sure they expected us to simply move out.
It took all our will power to not get revenge.
Instead we played the game and now I know they cringe worse when they hear us having a good time!

Thanks again everyone for checking in...

    Hooollllllyyyyy $hit!

People says that the forty coupe is the hardest to chop, and some say they are better left alone!
What is the next thing to above awesome?
    Because this is Awesome+1!!

Usely the Forty coupe is be-a-u-ti-ful. But put next to your chopped forty it looks; tall, outdated, out of proportion and weird!

Cad flatty is so cool! Headers is hardcore! And you sir, are a an craftman exstraordinaire!

I'm so much looking forward for updates from you!

I've seen others '40 on here being chopped, like Sled/Sledge car, and they say custom to me. Yours scream Hot Rod, so loud I should be able to here it her, half way around the World!

Does it have a name, because Bad Forty sounds good too me! And it fits it was bad, now it's Bad A$$. B-)

It took my almost two evenings to read! Wow

  11. Ah, nasty neighbors..... I've got one that beat on my door at 3AM once to complain about my barking dog... except my dog was in the house asleep (until she banged on the door anyway...) LOL.

Pick some new 'garage music'... I'll suggest FZ, 'Sheik Yerbouti' album, side one, cut three...LOL. Repeat as needed....

    And chopped/sectioned 40s look bitchin'!

Ok got about 2 hours in yesterday.
It had been a long time.
Of course by the time I got on a roll,
    it was time to go!
Hopefully can get some time in to finish this hood.
    It is so close.

Hey Volvobrynk I'm flattered at your comment.
    Seriously!
Most of us that write and build these things,
know that we appreciate the reads and comments.
Kinda helps know that I'm not the only crazy one! ;)

Hey Crazy I've got this '96 medeski martin & wood bootleg, a funky jazz trio.
That's cause the Grateful Dead is normal to me!

    Ok let's try this again.
    View attachment 2193139
Thought I had gotten the hood close,
but realized yesterday that was a pipe dream.
    View attachment 2193140
Back in February attacked the lower rust patches.
    View attachment 2193142
I had brainwashed myself early on to let it go,
but man it was so rough.
    View attachment 2193145
    Each corner was rotted out.
    View attachment 2193147
My TJ tarp lasted about 2 weeks without modifications...
    View attachment 2193148
During the rainy weeks progress was slow,
so I screwed around with the pedal assembly which was really worn out
    View attachment 2193149
Note that you need 2 bushings for each pedal,
which means 2 kits not 1 kit.
    View attachment 2193150
My oldest kid Jaxon chipped all the old rubber off the runningboards.
Saved me hours - thanks Whabamp!
    View attachment 2193151
This spurred a scrub/sand/grind + ospho and rolled epoxy kick.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1399387495.285424.jpg
The weather was perfect as the wind blew all the rust dust next door.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1399387582.288543.jpg
Cool to see it in a solid color,
although it made the body look more beat up.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1399387852.723152.jpg
Still had to finish the patches though...
