Thanks to surfcaliforniasurf car has been identified:

    George Garza 1951 Mercury "Jitterbug"

First off the obvious, really crappy pics on my part. Digital cam and TV don't work well together.

Second issue: Don't care to discuss the merits and faults of basic cable car shows. We all know what they are...

I saw this recently and was interested on finding info and better pics on this Mercury as I would like to use it as a template for my own '51 Mercury build.

    Evidence:
    Show acronym "LOTCH"
season 1, esp 5, first 5 min of esp.

Story line: Rick and his goon travel to central valley,ca in this 1951 Mercury to hoard it out.

    Chopped
    B pillar slant
    '50 rear window
    twin spotlights
    Lincoln door buttons
Lincoln ('49-"51) hubcaps (not in pics)
White and green tuck and roll seats (not in pics)
Paint looks to be light green (or yellow) paint-faux patina sanded through exposing oxide primer.

Other than that it retains all of the stock looking stainless trim and chrome grill, bumpers, tail lights.emblems '51 skirts, etc. Cali black plate.

Notice the headlights are not frenched

Seems too subtle to be a Rick Dore built car by history of previous builds. No mention of it on his web site. (I did e-mal to ask for info and have not heard back as of yet). I could not find any info or pics of the car on the web either. I'm sure it's quite possible it was a "borrowed" car for the scene. Maybe someone here knows of the car?

    Thanks,
    Walt

I know the car it belongs to my friend George Garza of the beatniks. You can see photos of it in the grand national roadster show coverage.

  3. That was quick . If your looking for inspiration for your Merc check out Rik Hovings custom car photo archive . You can get lost here for years literally. Even though Rik has done an outstanding job of organizing things you will still need to spend time sorting through all the folders to find all the Merc's . Here is the link.

I was always partial to this Dick Dean built Merc
