hi, i have a original 1937 ford coupe with flathead, 6 volt, positive ground. car starts right up and runs smooth, but when i turned off, it will not start again. changed coil, condenser and resistor... when its cold, starting good again!!! jumperwire from battery to coil starts good when warm!!!! resistor gives 3,5 volt to coil....... any suggestions????????? Coil or condenser is the usual suspect. But you have changed that. New doesn't always mean good. Might want to look down the carb when it's hot and see if your getting any gas. Nice 37!
have a electric fuel pump...gas is not the problem!!! no spark when started once!!!! i am thinking of another coil/condenser... got a new old stock, but will order a new setup!!!! i could place a switch with 6volt on the dash, to solve the problem, but this must work in a original way...;-))) Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. OK!!!!!! :] Ya never said when it was hot that it had no spark. Just that it wouldn't start. It is very possible the nos coil is dry. So the answer is right in front of you.
I sent you a few pms, but I'll just post it here too. As I mentioned in the pms, do a search for skip coils (here and google) and see what comes up. http://www.fordcollector.com/coils.htm Might check cracks in the dizzy cap and rotor too. Enjoy. ok, so you think that the new coil also fails??? have a new condenser here, will try it first, but if it doesnt help, i have to order a new coil...... the ignition system is not very complicated, but if you get new shit parts, it wont work;-)))) Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!

I used to have the same problem. As already recommended, send your coil to Skip. Another thing, which is pretty basic, but make sure your battery cable is the right gauge for 6 volts.
all cables are new and the ground points clean!!!! distributor overhault (macs) with new points, adjustments done..... will contact skip, thanks !
Sounds to me that it's your distributor itself..I had the same problem with mine and someone pointed that out to me so just to humor myself I borrowed one from a friend because what are the odds that i have 2 bad distributors right..dropped it in and it fired right up..something on the inside of mine gave out and in fact it started to arc within the distributor when I would try to restart after it's warm up..good luck.
