What a feeling again.Just arrived from work.
    Hot day been here today.
Just take the rear window open and vents too.
I think its better than my marauders air conditioned interior.

I'm envious. This house remodel / move is taking too long. Maybe hrm.....a match and gasoline!? No kidding! But I wish I could just get back to it. I have the Tranny, its done. It needs to go in, and I need to replace the intake gasket and I should be back on the road.

MEH! I've had this car for a year.

But at $600 (yes that is what I paid) worth it!

Now I just need the rest of this 63 Marauder.... One piece at a time might not be the best way to restore one lol

Its the original Merc-O-Matic - rebuilt by me and a co-worker in another thread. Now if only I could get time to see if it works!

Taking my Mercury apart. I hope I will not find more rust.

Originally from Northern California. Sat in a field I think. My other rusty one was also from NorCal but ended up in the snow in Reno.

Yes, I think it sat in tall weeds up north.

rprice76, thanks man! I definitely need some help with this thing.. it does this weird thing sometimes where it down shifts randomly right after it shifts into 2nd when leaving a stop sign under hard acceleration.

I just started on my power steering control valve rebuild.. anyone else do this? Seems pretty straight forward. I was gonna send it off but my funds kinda had to go other places for the time being... I got a rebuild kit from the local parts store, gonna tear into it this afternoon.

Where at in NorCal? Stuff has a pretty short life expectancy where I live, right on the coast... if you only have to replace the floors we consider it a rust free car up here :D

I was told it sat in a field of weeds above Fresno. From the looks of 2 of my Marauders, this is probably true. They seem to be rusting from the bottom up. Both are Commiefornia cars so I doubt salt or snow was an issue.

This is my first FOMOCO /MERCURY. And at first felt like i was cheating on my GM/Chevy. But after all the research I and information I've gotten from other people I too have grown to love this car mostly the 1963.

If there's the remains of a ~10" dia piece of 1/8" aircraft aluminum hammered round & pop-riveted over the rust inside the front arch of the right rear wheel housing, it was my mom's car in '69.

In an unheated bare-stud garage in Duluth in the winter, a 1/4" drill motor was the only thing keeping me warm. Wow...the things an old car can remind you of.

We drove that beast all over north Minnesota and it was a stable, solid, predictable, and powerful machine. I got it away from my mom one clear winter day.

Wind over the Muskeg would rift snow in 2' high wind-rows across the bare highway, and that Merc just blew through them like dust at 60+ MPH.

I was literally snow-surfing on the frame and oil pan LOL.

I'll never forget that ride. :D

BTW, mom traded it in on a Honda 1300 Civic when they moved to Fresno in '75.

I think everybody works overtime to pay for the Mercury restoration.

Awesome car. Sorry to hijack on old thread, but I recently picked up a 63 myself. Having some major issues figuring out the brake lights/blinkers. Other than that.. everything works, runs and drives. I also have some major p.o. issues as well.. but what car doesn't need work?
