So , just picked up this 59 day before yesterday. Rebuilt y block , 4 speed , 9". Runs great , drives great. Previous owner dialed in all the mechanics. Took it for a few hundred mile drive the day after picking it up , ran great , cruises @ 85 on the highway & no overheating. The plan is to order lifted springs this week. Snatch up a set of skinnys for the front, letter her up , track down a set of fenderwell headers for the Y & go scare some locals....already started cleaning up the cockpit , new wheel , dash knobs , shift knob & turn signal.... Best part is my rescue Pitt approves . Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
PROGRESS REPORT !.. ordered my skinny fronts this evening , some center caps & a set of y block fenderwell headers. ordered a set of 4.5" lifted front springs this afternoon. things are coming along well. everything will go on as soon as it all shows up on the doorstep. yanked off the tow mirrors & replaced them with a set of stainless long arm 4" peeps from so cal speed shop ( suprisingly , i can actually see out of the passenger side mirror ) & added a new stainless rear view cause the old one was gone. went out to the junkyard this morning & scored a cherry 59 grill & drivers side fender to replace the damaged ones on the truck now. pulling the front & rear bumpers tomorrow morning & starting the fab work on the new tube & cab rear with brackets & the new nerf front with tank mount. gonna use the front mount tank as an overflow.heres a few of the updated interior shots from yesterday... more pics as i progress...
I need stainless headlite ring, that hold head lite in place. Are you gonna make inside headlite air intakes ?
I likey! Go ladders and ditch the front bumper. Velocity stack if it'll fit. With the fenderwells it'll start taking gasser shape.
Speedway makes a set of finderwell headers for a 53-56 F-100, don't see why they would not fit the 59. Might check with them.
