Possibly for the illegal soap box racing in California or something similar?

    Regardless, I kinda dig it...

I think the helmet is French...?
Whatever, I think it is the first '59 Olds racing coffin I've ever seen.
Most folks around here have '57 Olds racing coffins.

What to do with the rear quarters of the hulk that you pulled the Olds rocket out of for your rod.

If Plowboy had a hand in it it would have a pearl paint job on it and some sort of power plant tucked in it to buzz down the road scaring the neighbor's cows.

Yes...clearly needs some motivation. Might be room to squeeze in narrowed powertrain from a Panhard or a 2CV to keep the French vibe going. Imagine that slow Panhard beat as this thing whizzes past at 110...

This thing is from the dutch dunes !!!!!
It's made from 24 pices of discarted 59 old's steel, saved from the bin and turned in to a soapbox for a race in my home town .
rear bumper from a volvo ,up side down, and wheels came from a local rehab center

in the early '80's there were quite a few events like that around here
I built two, black one was scary fast, red and white much more stable but not as fast
these were made from two different drop tanks,
I cut pieces from the first one to patch the second
