62-65 Superstock Mopars picture thread..

Did he keep that car to maybe run at a later date?

 

Here's one of our '63 Plymouth "FRUSTRATION". Haven't had it out in a couple of years. Thinking about getting it back out this summer to run with the ECNSSA and 422 guys. Time will tell.

 

I believe that car was sold to someone in Europe.

 

That Plymouth would have made a way cool tow vehicle.

 

Do You, or anyone know the anything about this car? I believe this is the first max-wedge car I ever saw, Onondaga dragway in Michigan. I would have been 13 at the time.

 

Not mine but a few modern SS MOPARS that ran at the Nostalgia Drags at Eddyville Raceway in Iowa.

 

Here is mine-bought last summer and currently undergoing a heart transplant. I really liked Koffel's RO '65 Belvedere with a transplanted 273 Commando that ran C/FX.
So I am upgrading mine to be a what if. ...what if you could order a 273 Commando in a '65 B body. (actually a stroked 360 to look like a 273)

That Commando 273 really brings back memories. Had one in my '65 Valiant Signet in HS. Dual point, solids, 4bbl, 4spd w/Hurst all from the factory. Like to have that one back. Those '65 Belvederes are my all time fav Mopars, nice!

 

I believe we are talking about the -63 post car that Dan had. That car was raced here in Finland in the nineties and as far as I know it is still here.

I stand corrected, I knew one of the 63's went to Europe, glad to see it is still alive and well doing battle on the strip. That's were these cars belong.

 

I remember seeing a picture in a magazine of Bill Golden's car (before wheelstanders) with it's hood open with a long ram under the hood. A 62 Dodge that he was running. And there were 2 distinct runner lengths, one that the port dividers were not as long, to cut down the effective length of the 2 piece crossrams and raise the RPM level a bit. I used to try to run a long ram at the strip in Jackson Ms. and 100 mph was the top speed no matter what. All done by 4500 rpm. But what a sound that thing made.

 

I picked up this book a few weeks ago. Nice book as it has everything in it to tell if a Max Wedge car is a real one and not a fake. Alot of info in it. Ron

Jim Schild has written several books on old SS Mopars and early AWB Funny cars. My wife bought me one for Xmas titled "Maximum Performance". Lots of very detailed information. Book is available through Amazon.

 

Hi 383man , I'm going to buy a copy of this after you posted it....Can you show a pic or 2 ??.Ive brought so much MW literature but most books always seem to have few pic's of actual parts & pieces but a lot of spec's & part no.s

Yea I have the book Maximum Performance also and I agree its a great book. I also have a few of the books by Darrell Davis as I have the 63 Ply and Dodge books and the 64 Ply book. Ron
