That will make a very sweet and fast machine.
What final drive ratio will you run?
    Or 62 Wagon has a 66 mustang 289 with a c4 a very nice package.
Must removed the wheel caps and put some colour in the wheels matching the interior. 1383165508173.jpg

I want to see more of this car!

I'm working on a 61 S-22 which I have most of the build threaded someplace on here. It has a long way to go, but I don't really have as much time as I'd like to work on it.

Looks great Tomkat, a "sleeper" !
Have you fitted the monte Carlo bars and under supports?
You can't buy the Kool that the weathered paint gives and I too found they"sit" better with the wheel caps off.

Thanks Flattop, I like the look both ways, without caps when I go to Hot Rod shows and with caps at local regular shows ,which I don't enjoy as much.
I prefer the hot rod shows!!!
Any more WAGONS out there ?? I've never seen one , except on the web sites I go on.

These 2 are of our Mercury wagon and compared to the Australian Ford Falcon XP wagon of 1965...

And before I painted the wheels and lowered the back...
With the painted wheels I can't use the wheel caps any more without damaging the paint... so it goes everywhere in this form.
Like you the hotrod scene is more my bag, and even the Mercury Car Club guys here tend to ignore or underrate the Comet here, as it was copied for our local market as the Falcon XP...
I get a lot of pleasure out of the car, it is SOOO quick, I haven't floored it, at the lights with the modern cars 3/4 leaves them all behind! :D
ps. This is the only Comet wagon in Australia that I know/heard of, but I was at the Moon Eyes Xmas bash last year in LA and there were a couple of 2 door coupes there, and disappointingly I missed a wagon that attended, only spotting a pic of it later in a thread on this forum :(

Here is my 1960 4 door! As you can see I did some body work and paint. She has 200ci with the original 3 on the tree. I have an 8" rear out of a 68 mustang planned for the spring. Probably have to lower it 4" once I give it new rear springs.

Anyone have any opinions on 14" vs 15" rims?

  15. I got rid of a 61, what freaks me out, as hard as it is to find parts for it, they are slightly rare but the cars price/value doesnt reflect their rarity. after crazy looking, found a rear window in indiana, a hood in oklahoma etc etc

With 14s you should be able to go to disc brakes i believe. Are you going stock steel rims or something fancier schmancier?

The shades on the black Falcon wagon are available in Australia BUT the Falcon is 3" shorter than the USA Comet.

The 8" rear turns out to be an inch and a quarter wider. I decided to go with 15's. Hoping 15x5 stealies will fit.

I think it will all depend on the off set and tyre overall diameter.
Are the spring saddle centres the same?
