Hows it? Here's the Mrs's new ride, a fresh import 56 Oldsmobile 88 2dr post. Plans are a tidy-up for compliance then slam it and drive it. It's in incredible condition for it's age and still sports the Rocket and factory drivetrain. Interior needs a little work but is pretty useable. Odo says 76xxx miles, could easy be legit, all the cloth and tar wrapped wiring everywhere is still mint!! Anyway, after getting stuck into the brakes for compliance, i found one of the front drums is grooved beyond repair. Olds are pretty rare here and I'm having a hard time finding a replacement, is anyone here certain on what could interchange? I can get 57 Buick but can't find any info on if they interchange. Good proces from Kanter...many years ago, I needed them for my 55, only one guy in Hemmings had them, out on Long Island. Wanted 400$ each for them, so 1600$ for a full set! Reproduction stuff = good!
Be careful when you're trying to remove the drum from the hub. Some of them used the wheel studs to rivet the drum and the hub together. By the time I realized, it was already bent. Mine had two different style drums on the front. I'd have to look which one of the two I bent...
Wow steep prices! Im onto a lead here, fingers crossed it works out or kanter will get a call.i see their prices went up $10 a day or two ago too, must have been all the chat on here haha. Drum came off ok, front shoes and pads were replaced very recently and the bearings were done up pretty slack, plus no stud issues. I wonder if there is a drum from something newer that would work? I found that late 70's Chev pick up drums worked on the back of my 49.

I have had a look and I only have 2 usable drums which I need for my 56 convert project. Have several others but they are all badly worn with deep scoring. Cheers Russell
hi Jake, this is all I have, 11" dia, take a 1 3/4 or 2" shoe, depth from centre hole to back of drum about 3 1/2", one has been forced a bit but may still run true, cheers, Neville
