Generous Jack's and Auto Finishers in Syracuse, NY!

I had a number of Friday "almost quitting time" barley pops with the guys at Jack's back in the seventies.

Took a ride back to my old haunt and took some pics of K+G Speed Shop in Broomall Pa. I believe it was opened in the 60,s in Havertown Pa. then moved to it,s current location in the 70,s or 80,s.The Speed shop is around back and was busy and well stocked(had to buy a couple of items) and The front is the model train store. Cool Stuff!! Pete

Toledo Ohio in the 50's and 60's it was Flash Baumans at Dorr and Secor.Open 24 hours 7 days a week. With garbage cans and hubcaps outside it was lit up at night bright as day.Roy had it all from blue dots to cams and manifolds.I still have my Fenton intake and headers for my flat 6 plymouth.Roys dad Val lived on my street and would go by in 2nd gear with the cluth a slipping.New clutch every year!I think the old great stuff upstairs got sold in the 70's.

OK an old thread but how about J&F in Saddle Brook, NJ or Coast Auto in Hackensack, NJ. I worked at the warehouse that Coast owned in 1970. Or B&T I forget the town but not real far from Palisades Park.

In Flint, Michigan in the early '50s it was The Speed Shop on Fenton Road-run by the "famous" Bill Waddill. He closed up to be replaced by Ogorek's (sp?) Kustom Equipment on Richfield Road-known for it's Kustom Tunnel Tube Headers.

OK 3 years and nobody mentioned any Wash D.C. speed shops...

Stricks auto parts 14th st probably the oldest. Burnt down in the 68 riots.
Douglas speed and sport. Silver Spring, Md
G&M performance started in and old gas station and grew into a major east coast wholesaler.
S&S in Falls Church Va. IIRC sponsor of many gassers.
    Speed Unlimited
there was one in Beltsville, Md. Hot rod shop???

Ive got brain lock and can't recall all of them or their names. WE didn't have to go very far for parts.:D I'll add them as they come to me. Donnie can probably add a few.

Dyno tech in Ridgewood Queens built a 69 dodge charger for a friend back in the day. Those were the days of racing, the dealerships had racing cars like Myrtle Pontiac on Fresh Pond rd. or it might have been Myrtle Motors. I do not recall the name of the car though.

Sandy's on Rt 66 just out of Northampton MA. Was old time and still had plenty of old time stock when I started going there in late 50's. Up until a few years ago the old "office" was still standing after it closed and the old storage buss's were long gone. Everything gone now.
