Where do I find the weight of a 57 Chev Power glide with the convertor?

Put it on a scale? My guess is a tad over 200, but it's been a few years since I had one to weigh

  3. I'd agree on 240 lbs. I humped one out of a '61 Impala years back... on my back in the driveway. And it has a weird center of gravity once you get it loose.

The 240 number sounds accurate. I helped my uncle install a rebuilt unit back in 1969. I remember the shipping weight be 210-without the torque converter. While wallowing around on a very rough floor and trying to lift this thing into place, you will discover why curse words were invented! Transmission jacks were invented for these beasts! LOL

id say its on par with the titanic......

  7. I did mine with a floor jack and it was shaky at best. I was parting the car out, think the decision was made to separate the transmission due to the chain fall we had at the time.

  8. ....about the same as the other anchors at the bottom of the lake.

Heavy, and hurts bad when it lands on your hand. Use a transmission jack!

Just an estimate but I believe it's about heavy enough to give the average guy a small hernia. However, it's been a long time since I picked one up........
