    Hello hello!

Tought it was time for a late winter/early spring project!
So a couple days ago I was in the garage, went around the car and thought that the old tillitson X had past its best before date!

So i took it off and also the old skew manifold and intake. What to do now?
I found a manifold flange a friend cut out last year, so I bought some tubing and went to my work and fabricated a cone and started to build me a lake style header :)

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394748027.878934.jpg

After a couple of curses i got the right angel i wanted

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394748104.180122.jpg

Cut, grind, cut again and more grinding!
Finaly the first pipe was fitted
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394748193.358967.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394748207.361454.jpg
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394748229.757381.jpg

Dont worry, i had it boltes to a big i-beam while i welded!

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394748299.513347.jpg

Suits me pretty good, my first header!
Dug out an old 97 to give the banger som gas!
So now i have to fabricate a intake too ;)

Started with the flange, made of 5mm steel plate and my best friend, mr.Angelgrinde:)
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394748518.397301.jpg

Got a gasket as template and i also threaded the holes!
Then the gas in my mig welder ran out... So i started to take alook at my 97, or all three of them

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394748710.863000.jpg

After a few mins in the ultra sound cleaner:)

Now it was the tricky part, to get the emulsion tubes out...

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394748843.736205.jpg

Drilled just a little bit so i could get a tap in.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394748892.709077.jpg

Screw in a m4 bolt with washers and a little nut!

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394748941.362408.jpg

And...... Profit! I got the nasty little guy out:) just five more!

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394749028.632397.jpg

That was it for now, have to order som mew tubes and other parts.
On saturday i will start building the new intake:) thrilled to see how it goes:)

    Hej då from sweden:D

    Tgif!

Straight to the garage after work!
    Todays plan was:
    • fit the flange to the intake
    • rebuild the carb
    • cut out intake gasket
    • mount intake+carb

But i got quicker then i tought:)
So I hookt up the fuleline and hit the starter.... Wrrrrooom !!!
    It is alive again:)

What a sweet sound! Happy as hell

But its some work left to do, need to make a connection to the original exhaust and a block-off plate!
    Fabricate a throttle-linkage ,chokecable
    And dressup the fuleline!

That's a neat little Sedan. How does the Banger sound with the open pipe? Any chance of a YouTube video of the exhaust?

    Got the exhaust connected today:)
It was tricky to get the angles i wanted but it turned out well!

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1395949972.137518.jpg
That was the only place i could fit it or else it had hitted something

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1395950061.211926.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1395950072.954230.jpg

    The "downpipe"

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1395950106.784681.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1395950120.294090.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1395950135.878351.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1395950149.891581.jpg

Last thing to do is wrap it in heat/exhaust bandage and its done:)

Then i will tackle the throttlelinkage and fule line!

Anyone got some ideas on the linkage??
The gaspedal is pushing a rod forward and the throttle must go forward to! So "ordinary linkage" wont do it cuz it makes the second rod to a drag the throttle backwards!

  15. Nice project. It sounds killer with that megaphone exhaust. Your fuel line filter is a bit scary though. Any leak and everything will go up in flames.

Make an arm with a pivot in the center and hook the throttle to the bottom and to the carb at the top that way when you push the throttle it will pivot and pull at the carb side that's how my zepher intake is. What all did you do to the carb I'm about to make a header and mount my 97 soon. Here's a pic of the intake with the linkage I was talking about

Thanks dude:) the sound is even more killer in real! The fule filter is going away for good any moment:)

Peter, my throttle is pushing forward and also the carb ! So that linkage wont work

Oh I must have miss read any way you can just flip that linkage on the carb to the top maybe then you would be able to do it? I'm sure you'll figure something out. Car sounds great

    Hello again:)

Yesterday i got the Throttle linkage done and the "downpipe" wrapped in heatbandage!

Found a little arm to the carb so i colud have the linkage on the outside!
Made the linkage arm out of a 5mm plate, the upper linkage arm from "anglelinks" and a rod!
After some heat, monkeywrench and sledgehammer it turnd out good, just need to insert a bushing in the pivot hole

After a look on the web, it seems that alomst everybody runs whit the bowl forward!

    Maybe i should turn it?

U guys who is running with strombergs/hollys on a banger, do u need a fulepump and pressuregague?

  23. on hard acceleration it could starve the jets if the fuel level gets low since they are now at the front of the bowl not the rear like if the carb was the other way around

Not try stealing your thread, but....here's a thought for your next intake manifold. Holley 350 cfm, side hung bowl, small air cleaner, 6 volt electric fuel pump, everything fits under the stock hood. And it ran GREAT.
