I used, stole a couple of ideas here to make my next floor lamp. It's a 50th birthday gift for my friend. The prop came from an orange grove, it was very scarred up. My friend bought 7 of these because they were all powered by flathead V8's. I grabbed one of the props.

I put a flathead cam on a lathe and driiled a hole all the way through and made it into a lamp... Apparently i never took a pic before someone bought it... It took about 7 hours on the lathe to get that hole all the way through...

Also use to build these guys from flathead stuff...

Everyone knew Joe and Jay. Your furniture looks awesome. Do you sell them? You can't have that many seats in your living room.

  13. Yeah, I do sell them. I have a 50 Ford, 55 Pontiac, 58 Bel Air & another 55 Chevy. They need finishing or just re-done. Thanks for the good words.

Not car-related, but it is vintage and I did make it in the garage.

I robbed the circuit board out of a light and wired up a switch to operate it.

I love this thread — I've been following it for a few years now. Have you guys heard of Instructables.com? It's a place where you can document your build process for amazing projects like these. The community is very inviting and has great admiration for quality craftsmanship.

This message board is fantastic, but not very many people get to see these projects, and I think the world should know about them! Instructables is a place to share your projects with a larger audience. : )

This weekend I finished wiring the 2nd one of these that a buddy and I built in the last year. Both are controlled by PLC units to sequentially flash the lamps. We researched the Chrondek patent info to get all of the measurements, parts sources, lettering fonts, etc. They are exactly like the one that was in service at the local drag strip which closed in 1974. The pic above was taken last year at a local car show's Racer Row and is the first tree that we finished.
