Technical Distributor Ground Wire Question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by High Class Rat, Apr 1, 2014.

  1. I am installing a Pertronix electronic ignition distributor kit on my wife's 54 Ford F100, 239 Y-block. Problem: The distributor ground wire is not long enough to reach either one of the intended mounting screws. Question: What is the best way to change this wire and if I need to pull the distributor, do I have to be concerned about the oil pump drive shaft sticking to the distributor?

Just add some wire length to the wire and bolt it down. Its not a hot wire so do your best job. I would suggest some soldering here..
The pertronixs needs the ground lead as that breaker plate moves a ton with the vacuum only advance............:D

Never pull a distributor you dont need to......

  3. GMC Bubba, Thank you for your response. That is exactly what I will do.
