You could get a real long skateboard and call it a skate wagon. :)

My first surf wagon in 1971 or 72 (when I did surf, but not to well) was a 63 Studebaker Wagonaire with the sliding rear roof.

These are my present wagons... A 1955 Pontiac and a 1957 Chevy. Also have an OT HHR Panel Truck.

Always had a thing for wagons!

IMG_0002.jpg skanna0001.jpg 1224868637CtZ337J.jpg Here is one you could use at Lions after a day at the beach. A night at The Beach after a day at the beach, catchy. '47 with a 365 horse 327, fenderwell exit headers, 4 speed, and ladder bars. Started to call it Barnwoodie. Moonlight thru the roof slats was so romantic that I had to hang some Chianti bottles. Drove the piss out of it. Might be the one on the album cover after the top rotted off and they hopped it up.
Final pic would the appropriate hundred pound load mentioned in the song.

I never could make up my mind - Surf-Wagon theme, or Nostalgia race car. So for the first step, combined a little of both, still retaining most stock parts except for the 'glass hood/scoop and wheels. Did go with PB's - frnt discs, rear drums. The surfboard is 'glass with airbrushed wood grain. Car was rot free to begin with , so a good platform.
Regardless of which way you go, ......you can always change it later. Enjoy and have fun with it. I know because I had a stroke two months ago which may result in putting the "Beach Bum" up for sale.

  17. It seems your ride has to have a long roof to be considered surf/beach ride.

Surfers in Texas do own trucks!

Hey, I have a '58 Chevy Nomad and am looking to airbag the suspension. What kit did you use on yours and was it easy too install? I'd prefer not to have to make body mods.

    Thanks

As soon as Lake Michigan thaws, we'll be at the beach. Towing our beach house.
