Rich Hansen (Hansen's Supercharger Service) in Long Beach worked with Joe Reath also...1957-'62 (?) I had a Hansen 6-71 blower on a Reath 331 Chrysler, with Moon triple V-belts
Latest find.Cragar intake, drive and a GT rear bearing plate.Throwing in the M/T intake to help liven it up.
I'll be following this one closely. I have a '56 324, Weiand manifold and a nice 6-71 that will go into a future project. I'll be building my own drive again. The last one was a three v-belt drive for a SBC/4-71 using a stock balancer. It was really pretty straight forward fab stuff; assemble what you have, take plenty of measurements, make some drawings to keep it straight in your head and dig in. I had a real machinist cut the pulleys to my drawings, labor traded for some header work.
Hey guys, we all ran chain drives back in the 50's. And, most of them were home made except for Howard Cams made a off the shelf drive. We ran on e for several years and only broke one chain. However, it was scary when they came off..........
Yep they are the real deal. I found them on that auction site. I new they were what the car needed I'm going to run them past the cowl and out of some bell tips. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Made mine using the original compound bend front and rear tubes that I got when I worked for Bob Hedman. They discontinued those older style hedders and there were still barrels full of those compound bends waiting for the scrap guy. I scored enough to build about five sets and I've hung onto them since around '72. Sounds kinda crazy when you think about it.....
That is crazy but thanks for saving the bends from the scrap yard. I was so happy when I found them they just look cool. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Cragar drive and intake on 4-71 on sbc just about ready to fire.. changed my mind at the last minute and put the blower and drive on a little Olds
Here's a "mystery" 4-71 Chevy setup. I don't know the manufacturer but I did find a picture of one on Ray Goodwin's Bantam in the November 1961 HOT ROD magazine. Anyone recognize it?
That drive looks like what is identified in a December 1963 CARS Magazine article as a Pete's (Sneaky Pete Robinson) drive. Cant really make it out in my crappy phone pic but the tri plate is stamped PETE'S.
Thanks landseaandair! You are right. I found this cover shot of the magazine with the drive on it. "Crane Engineering's Rolling Test Lab" dragster with a 4-71 blown Chevy with Sneaky Pete Robinson drive and nicely tulipped blower case. -Andy
Here's my old WEIAND SAY-WHY-AND set-up. Intake manifold and pop-off plate, timing cover, valve covers, and rear bearing plate dog bone all have the SAY-WHY-AND JETSTAR logo, also drive snout has the early design countersink not the later square hole in the center. The fuel pump extension and even the oil pan are early WEIAND items.
Here's a picture of the other type of PETE'S drive from Sneaky Pete Robinson. This polished cover with magnesium drive and idler arm/pulley asm. used to be mine but I sold it to Rob a while back to help with the restoration the GASSER PASSER.
