11 years ago, we held the first King of Clubs drag race, the main purpose of the event was to expose the sport of drag racing to a younger generation and get them envolved and participating in the sport. Since then , we feel we have been very successful, like events have sprung up all over the country, as has gone back to a sport of participation and not just a spectator sport.
At the first event, we were just a handful of guys from the different clubs from southern California, the car show was small and there was'ent much to do but drag race, so much of us actually raced and had a great time. Ya we had the after party which was a couple of bands and the burlesque show, but the main event was the drag racing. It did'nt mater if you won, it was a boat getting in you're car and seeing how fast it could go.
Since then, the show has grown imensely, and is going threw some growing pains. Due to more lone wolves showing up to participate in the grudge racing, we've been running out of room in the pit area, there has been a lot of party people showing up and camping in the pit area and doing some really heavy drinking, which in turn has caused some security issues, so something has got to give.
We would like to get back to the root of the event which is drag racing, and steer away from a uncontrolled party , so we had to make some changes.
We wont be having bands, d.j. or the burlesque show this year, and we will still have a car show but it will be informal and in a limited way.
Priority will be given to the guys drag racing, so the car show will be in the east end of the track under the trees and space will be limited.

The show is going to be a boat drag racing, so we will be doing that all day and evening. I'll post some more later.

OK, someone has to say it I suppose. This could be the worst use of an event thread ever. So far, all anyone knows (unless they made the last event) is that it is some place in SOCAL, the date and therefore a little over a month away. No other info. Of course I probably can't make it from Florida and I'm not being a prick for fun here. I see many threads like this - incomplete or crazy vague.

Couldn't you do more good and get more participants if at the very first post provide the location, place, times, web site, flyers, etc.? The posts below the initial post read like tweets, as if no one else is "in" on the program or, even invited to attend at all. Or is this event by invitation only? The way I see it, if you want people to be interested in an event and support your goals, you have to give them some helpful info to work with / plan for. They shouldn't have to start a web search / research project to find out where it is, eh? I do wish your event success, really. Gary

Ok guys , here is the scoop. For those of you that want to camp or get a good pit area, gates open friday July 11th at noon and will stay open late . Gates reopen 8 a.m. on Saterday, Car Show starts at 10 a.m. and will be held on the east side of the pit area by the trees. King of Club drags start at 2p.m. till 4p.m. Nostalgia racing is from 4p.m. to 11 p.m. those of you that want to continue racing can do so at no extra cost.
For those of you camping it's still free but there is no hook ups . No Fireworks, no open fires, no glass bottles, no fire rings, if you are bringing a bar/b/que, make shure it is a propane one. For those of you camping and are not racing, please use the spectator entrance on the north side of the track and don't hog up the pit area. We are expecting a lot of racers this year and we need all the space we can get . The north side of the track has bitch'en tiered parking and will give you an excellent view of the track.
Spectators are 15 dlls per person and there is no extra cost if you are bringing a show car and want to park in the car show. special rates for kids.
It's 40 dlls to race all day and night and includes admision

Last year, The Bean Bandits won back the flat head class trophy from Hudson Joe from the Shifters, this year's race should be exciting with more clubs participating in the flathead class

The King of Clubs street class will be defended by the Cat Killers, nobody has been able to beat their unbroken record for years now. what better their odds is that all their club members participate which better's their odds against the other clubs

For those of you that have never raced at the show, all you need is a catch can for the radiator, a battery hold down, seat belts and a helmet, for bikes you need a helmet , boots, long pants , and gloves

For the full race category , Butch Calkins from the Lifters will be defending el mas chingon title, hopefully Marky from the Shifters can make it out this year again. I heard he really has the purple people eater diall in , and made it fly at the Moon eyes show.

If you have never been to the Barona race track and are coming north of San Diego, from the 5 , 805 or the 15 take the 52 east to the 67 north, go to the secound signal light at willows rd. and make a right at the circle K, go 2 blocks to the first stop sign, that's wild cat cayon rd. make a left and head north up the hill past the Barona Casino a boat 13 miles. You will see the track on your left side of the rd a boat 3 miles past the casino

Hopefully , the Cat Killers took some pictures or videos of them going down the track.
Anyway here is the race results<
In the King of Clubs street class, once again Rich Benson from the Cat Killers took home the trophy.Part of their success is do to teamwork, everybody in their club races and like a pack of rabid dogs, their club members take out any compitition before they get to the finals . Half the guys racing in this class were broken down or had lost by the finals.
In the full race catagory, Butch Caltins from the Lifters once again took home the El Mas Chingon trophy by beating Allen from the San Diego Water Work's 55 chevy

My favorite was the flat head class , for it was a really close race. After ten years, The Lifters finaly had a flat head car to race in this class. Russ Hare aka Squigles from the Lifters took home the flat head trophy by beating a really cool shoebox from the Helldivers, The shoe box had bitch'en patina and a freshly built 2 pot flat head. Squigles had a sports coupe with a really tired flathead that was belching smoke all way down the track , but won the race by getting the jump on the shoebox at the gate.
