I joined this thread when it was 91 pages and now it is 1091! There are some great threads here on the HAMB but none and I mean NONE compare to this one! Josh, thanks for starting it and to all you others, thanks for the most incredible wealth of knowledge that you share with us I thought that after 50+ years playing with open wheel cars I have learned a lot, but up against some of you, I'm still wearing my rookie stripes! I can't wait to see what the next 1000 pages will have to offer.

    Joashua,
The middle picture, the fellow on the right is my Dad, Jake Burkart.
He was Doc Bowles chief mechanic.
The fellow on the left is Ray Webber, he used to run a USAC Midget and he from
Cincinnati, from over on Werk Rd. Doc Bowles is in the center.
    Jay
    Thanks,
    Jay

In my humble opinion the Dunseth car is the prettiest sprint car ever.

Seems Bob Sweikerts first sprint car ride was the K O (Karl Orr) spl. powered by a Merc. flatty. Must have been "interesting" sailing around the high banked Oakland Stadium track on wire wheels ;) Good looking car though, wonder if it still exists?

The Hawthorne car a little later. I think I read somewhere this is the car Jerry Unser went over the wall at Indy in 1958. I think I may have posted the winged version earlier, and the crash pic was also posted here. Ramblur is Wilbur's grandson.

Wish I had known the 67 was going to be at Ameilia Island. I would have gone over...(and I missed the 375MM Carrera Panamericana Ferrari that Dad worked on in the 50s! the year before:()
We maintained that Fray Champ car, for "the Judge" for years, in the 80's. He came over to the shop more times than I can count, to take many rolls of detail photographs of vintage racers, as we built or restored them, and always had an extra set of prints made, to give us. I have a lot of shots of the 67, It was a very well engineered car (as far as designed for ease of working on it..)

Rich, that car was owned at the time of the winged pic, by Dave Humpe. That pic came from Jimmies Old Time Racing, and was taken at Hilltop Speedway, Marietta, Ohio. Do you know when and where the car was wrecked? It was supposedly scrapped afterward. Here is another pic, from the same website. Don't know the location.

Does anyone recognize the two men standing on the far side at the front of the car? I believe the one on our left in white with a black hat is my dad, Luke Easter and maybe the guy next to him is Don Arnett from Belpre, Ohio or Parkersburg, WV. Dad raced with Dave Humpe at Parkersburg, Marietta, Athens, etc.
