Much like others, I've been reading threads for years, but finally am doing my first post! I currently own a 58 Fairlane 500, previously owned a 56 Oldsmobile and was building a 5-window coupe...I say WAS, because I had to sell it before it was ever completed....and want a 48 Buick Sedanette...not much to ask for, right?

so wanted to say HEY to all the fellow car lovers.

Thanks! I guess I should add a picture from last October....It's been in the shop since December with me battling insurance and trying to find parts....
(btw, it sure didn't look like this when I bought it almost 10 years ago out of a field)

Did it catch fire? Or are our "Finest" just giving it a car wash?

Yep, caught fire about a block from my house....undetermined cause! The firemen were actually scared to damage the paint and body, so I'm thankful for that....but the 500 gallons of water they sprayed got into my engine and did more damage than suspected at first.

  7. Wow, hot car.
    Welcome from California.

  9. Welcome from Kansas City...funny, those dry chemical extinguishers can cause as much damage as the fire, water at least is eaiser to clean up. Your lucky, our firemen would have cut the roof off just to try out some new tools.

I will be at the LSRU! (I'll be the girl desperately searching through the swap meet vendors looking for a LH 352 exhaust manifold!)

And thanks for the warm welcome!

Welcome from Kentucky. Good luck on your search.

  20. Welcome from the Pacific North West, and from a 57-58-59 Ford guy. I know the manifold your shopping for and may be able to help out. I know I have 1 but don't remember it's actual condition. I'll dig it out and look tomorrow (SAT) for you. Are you doing a change over to FE? Motor compartment fires in 57/8/9/ Fords are not all that un common. #1 issue seems to be the Batt installed with the Positive post towards the front and no tie down. This can let the + post come in contact with the Hood brace and fuse itself on and then comes the Smoke and Holly Crap. It's a direct short out. I hate seeing that happen. Better luck from here on.

  23. Got in the shed today and went right to the right side manifold but the Left side seems to be M.I.A. Don't remember using it or selling it, not sure what happened. For now can't help ya, sorry.

My Dad had a green & white 58 Fairlane 500. He had plastic on the seats, us kids were not allowed to eat ice cream in the car. His had a 352 Police Interceptor and a set of Pipe Cap Dumps welded onto the engine pipes. I thought that car was the coolest thing. Nice Car! Welcome from CT

  30. Welcome from CT! Love that Fairlane:cool:
