Ok, stupid question, but when you have to spray all those different colors, and do all that taping, do you need to put a coat of clear in between all those? The only reason I ask is because I thought that you had to cover most base coats within 24 hours or there might be lifting and or adhesion problems. I am going to be painting a triumph bike soon and I was wondering about it.

I will typically lay an inter coat clear down if I am walking away from it over night. Most of the products I use will allow you to top coat within 5-7 days of spray. I know everyone has there own ways of doing things. This is my method, hope it helps.

Yes, that's kind of what I thought. I typically use PPG stuff, and it says no more than 24 hrs after base. Thanks!

All the taping was done in one day and the candies where done the next day. I use a color binder with the candies, so it drys really quick, and it's sealed up. Usually spray it all out in one day, pull all tape and first rd of finish clear in am or that night if your pulling a really long day,or doing a smaller job. The cooler was done in about 45 mins ,before the final clear started.

Yeah elspock... nice stuff. Since I can't send you my car.... ;) How do you get that black highlight inside each panel? It gives dimension to that aspect. Is that simply black laid on with a detail/hobby gun? Or is that many layers of candy built up til it looks black?

Black paint is all it is. I just dust the edges before I remove the tape. Loves how it gives it the look like the pattern is going under
