You are correct sir. The City of Dubuque has told us we can have a parade again this year. Last year it was about 29 degrees and raining and we had about 15 cars show up. Perhaps we will get more this year. It is open to ALL classic and collector cars. And yes, open headers are OK! After last year the police don't think we are much of a problem.....and as a result are not going to send a police escort. But that is OK - we will do like we did last year. We start down at McGraw Hill which is right next to the Diamond Jo Casino. The parade will begin at 6pm and we will have directions for everyone. For those that want to stay out a little later on Thursday, we have the Krank Daddies playing at the downtown Eronel Bar (right below the Crust Pizza). Friday morning details will be lined up here on this thread - I am not able to go and hope that someone will be able to take the lead on this. And yes - we are only about 38 days away

Absolutely. It'll be pretty informal like last year but a good nonetheless. Everyone is welcome. Details to follow.

we had some great weather last year - rain and wind chill of 28! And we still had hundreds of cars show up - and thousands of spectators. It is a testament to the people that make up this type of show. Even with that kind of weather - we were still able to raise enough money to give $5000 to our adopted heart family.

There are no official awards at Vintage Torque Fest. There ARE club picks. The Rat Bastards always come up with some killer sci fi diorama as their club pick. We hope that others will recognize their fellow kustom, cycle, and hot rod lovers by giving them a creation of their own. Last year Tin Militia incorporated some whiskey into their award! And the Poor Boys award weighed in at 30 pounds! Be creative and details on this can be found at the volunteer booth at the show or email me privately and more details can be forwarded.

had a great meeting today at the fairgrounds - we are going to be changing things to make the event run much more smooth this year. This will be our second year in this location and we have been able to review things and we know that it is gonna be a great year - last year everyone had a blast, in the worst possible weather........
so get those rides ready cause Torque Fest is coming soon!

I believe all of the volunteer stuff is supposed to get sent out 2 weeks prior to the event. Thanks to all who volunteer to make things run so smoothly. Even you CTK. Remember to let them know if you are not going to make it so they can plan around your not being there. It seems that there are 50-75 people who fail to show up every year without telling anyone and this makes the people who do show up work harder or double shifts. Just a little courtesy. See y'all there in May!

  25. Maybe i can talk the killer clown to work my shift so i can play!

I'm pretty sure I saw that "clown" on a registered list that requires a minimum of 200 yards from a public venue.......:D

Doug is spot on. In the past we have prepared the volunteer schedule about 4 weeks prior to the show............
and then had many people cancel.
So, last year we waited until 2 weeks prior to the show and we did not have nearly as much drama with having to reschedule and ask people for double shifts. IF you can not make it to the volunteer shift - please do us a favor and let us know. Volunteering can be the best part of the show. Typically you meet new people and this only creates more friendships that can last for years down the road. I think the volunteer form will be taken down this coming weekend - so if you plan on volunteering, the time is NOW to get your name in there. We are not a giant corporation - in fact there are only a handful of us that make this preplanning happen. We hope that those that come to the show understand this and will have patience with us and all the volunteers. This show is all about having a good time and we hope that you will come out and have JUST that.

Mini Bikes are welcome at our show. BUT please drive responsibly. If volunteers tell you to slow down - DO SO. If the mini bikes become a problem on site -they will be allowed on the track ONLY. If you feel the need for speed - then take your mini bike out on the track! Please understand that the track is to be shared by Midwest jalopies, vintage flat track motorcycle racing, owners taking out their own cars for exhibition laps, and mini bikes. We will be making announcements throughout the day telling people the times. We should have schedules placed around the grounds as well. AND the schedules will be on the official site as well.

Don't forget the new for this year dedicated minibike track that is not in the parking lot. Yes, track as in not oval.
