    Thanks Larry,
An 86 year old man owned it. He bought it in 1959 (the old title was awesome). He put duel's with Smithys on it along with 40 Olds bumpers front and back (those are for sale if anyones interested). When we brought it home we discovered one intake valve was stuck open and some green funk decided to take up residency in the brake system. Fixed the valve and now it purrs like a flattie should. Replaced absolutely everything on the brakes except the drums as they were like new. Have a new set of 7.00x16www for the rear and 6.00x16s for the front. Also 2 new bumpers on the way. I'll post more pics when she's back on the ground...... And now we wait for spring!!!

Love your car. Mine was kind of like yours when I first got it. What's your plan for the car? I live in the Portage Lakes area if you want any moral support.

<hr style="color:#e5e5e5; background-color:#e5e5e5" size="1"> when the door handles sag on an old Ford , take one screw out in the door jam, directly to the side of the handle, jiggle handle out, and go to the other side of the car, take that handle out, reverse the handles , replace, no more sag..Makes BIG difference in the looks of 39-48 Fords... I love 39 and 40 Fords, they are the best !!!

Got my home built grill back from the powder coaters and installed it. Everything fits great! I'm working on a stainless grill now to replace this one when the car gets painted.

Great thread, new to this site and having fun surfing around. Thought I'd share a couple pics of a 40 Coupe I had just out of High School, early 80's.

I had traded a '72 Mach 1 for the car even swap. it had a 327, auto fully independent suspension, Jag rear, Corvair front. It was a great cruiser and handled pretty well too. Got busy with life and sold it for 5k just as pictured back in '85. Good to know this car is still around and has been owned by a guy in Ipswich Ma since the early 90's I believe.

  26. Although it isn't specified in the opening post, I believe the intention was for both, standard and deluxe '40s, as well as the '39 deluxe.

Here's a shot of my beater, out by Yeakley Chapel (est 1853), from one of my "route scouts" for the SWMO Hot Rod Hundred. This year's event will not include that location, but it may be in a future Hot Rod Hundred.

Almost of my pics of the 40 are pre digital. I dug through a couple boxes of old stuff but didn't really find much. When I took pictures it was usually of other peoples cars and friends I was hanging out with. I found a couple and scanned them in. One picture is from Muroc with my good friend Darryl Spurlock in his awesome 57 Ford., not really sure which year. The other was a little run that Mark Morton put on. I am thinking this was around 97 or so. Those were great times, lot's of road trips up and down the state, Morty spearheaded the group from LA and Stroupe kept us all revved up in Norcal. Thanks for asking about more pics it really brought a lot of memories back.
