History Paint use in hot rod history

    Hoping the masters on here can give me some history on the use of metallic paint on hot rods. They were present, obviously, in the early 50s. Any specific cars to represent their use? Thank you so much.

    1940 Buick Royal maroon was one of the first metallics in hot rodding, cellulose lacquer hand rubbed.
     
  3. Hot rods weren't painted in the early 50s, I know this because of all the unpainted so called "traditional" crap running around today!
    End of rant:
    I don't know anything about early 50s rods, I was born in 52, so clean diapers were a big thing on my short list then.
