Hurst Racing Tires closed????

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by olskoolrodder, Mar 14, 2014.

  1. LOVE my Hurst.

Father and Son operation in the Great USA.:D

Mine have been flawless. Also have a set of Firestones. My experience in the Firestones do not have the same grip off the launch ...due to a narrow footprint....but maybe due to having them on a 32 truck.

regardless......Hope the move forward is a True story.

I'm not sure if you'd consider a drag radial, but Hoosier has a pretty good option, too... 29.5" tall (I'll probably end up with these on my roadster) Hopefully one side is blackwall, without the white letters.

Here are the rest of the sizes:

Any new news on their move? Or did they get moved and a new phone number?

  4. Looks like they quite making the 7.75-8.00 15s. Or they don't list 'em anymore. Why I wonder? Seems like these would sell best.

Just worked with towel city three weeks ago. Great service and I'm very pleased with the product. Actually glad to hear that hurst is in the middle of a move, I tried to contact them first. After a couple weeks with no reply I moved on. Everyone has their favorites , but I'm just happy to have options rather than one person having the monopoly.

Just got new fronts from towel city yesterday, of course it helps being 5 miles away from them.

  7. Anyone heard anything yet? Have they closed for good? Pretty poor business practise. A simple message on their website telling what they are doing would have helped. Towel city here I come.

005knuck, Not sure what you are trying to say since you just keep repeating quotes from others. I suggest that you contact Herb down at Towell City Racing Tires. I LOVED Hurst's product, and Cody and Steve are great guys, but something went horribly wrong. It happens. Hopefully they will have another chance to get it all together and re-open. In the mean time though, Towel City Is equal the quality and closer to you so shipping will be cheaper.

Yeah same thing happened to me
I tried calling a few times and their phone is disconnected
I also called Secretary of State in Oregon and their business is current
I actually spoke with someone there in December and told me to call whenever I needed to fill an order.
But I find it strange that Moon Eyes Japan carried their product and Seven Sins Choppers as well Neither have their tires anymore
If anyone has any current info on Hurst? That would be great

    I apologize
Kinda new to the blog game.
    I didn't realize I was repeating myself
I am looking for a vintage slick for my bike
Unfortunately Towel City doesn't carry the size I need

Oh crap, I kinda thought that might be what you were looking for. Check out Skinner on the Jockey Journal. He had a contract going with someone to re-pop the Avon 18" drag slick from the early sixties. Cody was the only game in town on the pie crust style.

If they are out of business this sucks bad since they are the only company that does true traditional slicks. Towel city only does radials, so that writes them off in my book.... Too bad the firestone new-made piecrust have that shitty tread pattern, but it appears to be my only choice...

Honestly in my opinion hurst needs to be a little more internet accessable, mabey online ordering, and dealing better via e-mail, I started to discuss what I needed a couple times via e-mail, and got a "call me" reply but I always seem to be working too much to call when I have cash

I thought the Hurst slick was based on a radial tire? The Radir slick is a one piece design.

They can/could do either... I always forget about radir, but I swear they didn't have the size I'm looking for

Not sure about motorcycle slicks, but all the Hurst car slicks were based on radial casings. Steve was very particular about which casings he used, as not all casings fit his molds the same.

    Yeah it makes no sense
    Their website is still current
You would think they would post a comment on their site, even if the went out of business.
Yes so now Im thinking I might go with the 4.50/4.75 16" BW Firestone from Coker
Its the closest thing Ive seen for that pie crust look
I'm shocked one of these large company doesn't create a mold for a 18" pie crust drag slick
    They would make a killing.
The vintage chopper scene would eat it up!
If anyone hears anything new, please post

Talking bike tires, this makes me dread finding replacements for the 40+ year old goodyear grasshopper, and I forget the brand front on the WLA bobber I got from my dad

Btw, I swear cody from hurst tire is on facebook

    Yeah I dont do facebook
But Id appreciate if ayou or anyone could find out from him.
If a company went out of business, you'd think they would put a thank you letter or something on their site
But yet theres nothing............really strange.A lot of customers rely on their tires for their projects.

I have two numbers for Hurst- 707-540-9448, 707-695-3082. Have you tried these? I have two sets of their slicks? Love them. Hope this helps- Jimmy

    Ok guys really appreciate it
    I will try both numbers.
As far as the wheels go I'd let them go for as close as I can get to $1500
I'm just trying to break even
I originally needed only 1 for the bike but had to buy the pair
But my machinist told me it was going to be a big task,so I decided to just go with spokes.
hey Jimmy are those numbers tied to their office at Hurst Racing? Their site has only 503-656-1572
Is 707 an Oregon exchange? As far as I know their only manufacturing facility is in Oregon
I will still try those numbers regardless
Hurst shifters and parts are not affiliated with the racing tire company
I'll try calling tomorrow and will post the outcome.
    Thank you guys
