Well I went and found another car that I had to have.

1956 Mercury Montclair chopped 4 ½ in the front and 9 in the back with a 50 Merc back glass section and a 55 front end.

I need a trunk lid of anyone can send leads it would be very much appreciated. I can save it but Id rather replace it…..
If you are local to Dallas or coming to Pate, please let me know what parts you have for 55-56 Mercury that I might need.
I can’t wait to get started!!!

What's wrong with the trunk lid? Condition,or modifications?
    Profile shot looks great.

The metal where latch mech is bolted on to the inside skin. Someone used a crowbar to open the trunk at some point and instead of the latch breaking it tore the sheet metal.... strange but thats what happend.

  5. Always liked the '55/'56 Mercs, that one's pretty cool.

  8. I have always loved that body style. There's just something about those stylish shrouds over the headlights and the bitchin' taillights.

Well its running now, New Battery, a set of plug wires, a new fuel pump, and some clean gas, a quart of oil and a quart of trans fluid and she is purring like a kitten! Took it around the block last night... not bad for the first 24 hours of ownership....

Always loved the '56. When I was in highschool I chopped the top on a '56 Phaeton (4 dr.) from a model kit, added full-Merc "cruiser skirts" to it and did it in grey primer...it was uber'-kool ! Wish I had it today !
