Jack, waiting to hear back if Frank Currie remembers Lee Grey from Fullerton High. They may have been there around the same time. Meanwhile here are a couple of pictures from yesterday of my Lee Grey frame I just fitted. Note the V on the firewall...........

Doug Lindow of Lindow Engineering in Los Alamitos had one on his really nice roadster.
He may have been in high school in about the same time frame or knows some of the history....

I know Doug and will see if he recalls the windshield on his 29. He is hard to reach but I have a message in for him. I think he made his windshield as he has quite a machine shop for the Aerospace Industry. His car is now in FL but I don't know the owner.

I am new to this thread but love the chase and the history of the Hallock and others. I think Doug is in his 90's so it may take me a day or two to contact him. Carl at the Deuce Frame CO. also is a good friend of Dougs.

I think I read that Doug got his from either Butch Carlton or Rob Miller. Kirk bought Doug's 29 in the early 90's and said it was very well done and it looks to be a Hallock.

We need some new input on G & O and Lee Grey

I stand corrected Doug's frame, according to Rob Fortier, was one of the 3 that Larry Gheno cast in bronze and was on his green roadster

Here is another update from a close friend of Doug's. The blue roadster was not Doug's. He built it for Max Jaminson (a car dealer in Salinas) and added the Hallock style windshield which he built. It was not an exact copy but close. He also had a 29 hiboy but it didn't have a Hallock style windshield. Doug got the patterns from Joe Scalon's 29 black hiboy which had an original Hallock windshield and was one of Courtney's cars. The saga continues and hopefully we will find out even more. I am hooked! Whose is this one?

Very interesting about Doug and the original Scalon frame. Looking forward to what Doug remembers...

Back on the G&O trail. In Mario Baffio's collection of the 1949 Armory (from the AHF site) show I counted 3 29 roadsters with G&O windshields. One was Art Tremain's with the Fullerton decal (with the Full side of the decal showing), two was Harold Osborn's and the third was George Bottema's. Once I get pictures. I will post them. It seems logical that Lee Grey's partner was Harold Osborn. So hopefully this may open up some new gateways.....cool stuff:cool:

Anyone have pictures of these cars or knows who George Bottema is/was???

Here are the cars. The frame is mine that came out of St. Paul and unfortunately with no history. I believe it to be a Lee Grey/G&O chromed bronze frame. It actually fits very good. Better than the aluminum one I had.

George Bottema passed January 2013 in Norwalk .. There is a picture of George in later life, and looks like the youngster in picture behind roadster.. The Obituary also references 29 roadster..

jRodder(Courtney's) nephew is a friend of mine. It seems that I remember talking to him about the other post on this subject. I will give him a call today and see if he will respond.

Here are better shots of Art Tremaine's roadster in various incarnations. Thanks to Jimmy B. And one of George Bottema's from Tom Medley's book with out the windshield. George and Tom were about the same age.

  21. just to bring this one back to the top and throw a spanner in the works, i recently picked up a 'V' screen from a friend who got it brought back from the states in the early 90s, but it does'nt seem to be like the hallock or G&O, because of its long centre point on the cowl? also dont think the Bottema roadster has a G&O looking at that centre point too!
