I saw this 1964 Car club jacket at a car show in So-Cal today. The jacket was produced by Maple Athletic Sportsware. My question is does anyone know of a modern jacket company that can re-produce the jacket with the special materials used in the shoulder area? I would add my own logos as well. Thanks for the help.
That material on the shoulder area looks like the same material they use on the cuffs of high school letter jackets. Contact a sew shop that does letter jackets and I bet for the right amount of money they will do whatever you want! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I'd give Kevin and Jillian Silva the first call. Great to work with. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=614744&highlight=silva
There are many many places doing this. I went to guys garage and heard a sewing machine running and asked. He told me he bought an embroidery machine ($10,000) for his daughter to make money but she got so many orders that he bought two more and kept them running too. He said that his computer program operates the machine and all he does is put another garment in the machine every time it stops.
Computer embroidery….gross. I think I saw a similar jacket in a catalogue recently, been looking at jackets myself. If I find it again I'll post it up.
I've looked around and have inquired at many custom jacket companies. That material in the shoulder area seems to be a lost art among jacket makers since most people of today don't want it. I think it gives the jacket a special character of nostalgia and looks cool. One jacket company in So-Cal said for me to call them in July, when it's the "Slow" time of year for making jackets. I guess for a price anything can be done.
