    [IMG]Hello everyone,

I'm new to this site, and I've been reading lots of threads the last month or so.
I recently aquired my Dad's 1931 Model A 5 window coupe. My profile pic is a polaroid my Mom took in 1969. He bought the car in 1969 and owned it for 40 years until his death in 2009. I grew up with this car. As a kid I spent lots of time racing it, as it sat on blocks in the barn. I miss him dearly, and will build this car knowing he is watching every step. I am looking forward to this project and will post pics as I proceed.

Your Dads car is awesome, welcome.
Please, PLEASE, don't do any of what you have pictured to it! Your dad had it right.

Welcome from Oklahoma. Nice car, but, do have to agree that those wheels just don't work. It is however your car but you will catch flack about them on this site. What are your plans for it?

I was skeptical about the wheels. Took them on trade. I knew I would catch hell. My sons think they are cool. I am going to focus on getting it back on the road, then decide on wheels. I'm trying to mock up motor and trans. 327 SBC/350 turbo/9" ford. I'm trying to decide how high to mount motor. I think it should be raised up higher than Dad had it. Want to run a fan on motor. Pushing motor into firewall. Going to cut firewall, Worried about trans hump interfering with gas pedal.

Welcome from South Carolina. 5.0 Ford with a short front housing and water pump will save the most of the firewall and you can have a flat floor if you don't channel the body.

F.Y.I. I don't have the fenders , lights , or grill/shell to this car . They dissappeared after Dad died, and the car was shuffled around. Open for suggestions on wheels, or anything else. I enjoy all input.

Picked up this 29 frame to build. The frame under my coupe has been abused!

I'm mounting my cross member between the rails, and welding body mounts outside frame.

The more time I spend on this car, and the more I look at other builds, the less I like these wheels.

  30. Wishing you the best on your Dad's coupe, a great project with family history.
