Wouldn't that be a WWII conversion, admittedly somewhat better done than most?
It's my understanding that with rationing a commercial vehicle was entitled to a larger fuel ration than any other cars, hence one of the reasons for the conversion. Also with war production stopping civil cars and trucks from being made to focus on war needs farms and small businesses etc could not procure new industrial vehicles, again resulting in working vehicles being converted to trucks.

  18. These were made by Buick and used a Roadmaster chassis, they were intended for plant use only. Only 1 managed to escape the crusher.

Just for kicks I went back to page 1000 and started reading from there. Lots of pics I can't remember seeing before, or only remember very hazily. A few missing, but the whole thread is chock full of great stuff and worth dipping into at any point.

Been away for a few days, but my thoughts exactly. Cars are my life, but the extra I have gotten from this thread is priceless. It has been said that all of that other stuff is available elsewhere. I would like to know where. To all who have contributed, Thank You!
