  1. Steering wheel placement is a result from the crash. That looks like Bill Hickman with his head up- Dean's body is between Hickman and the stretcher.

  7. Surprised no one commented on this. Malcom Campbell broke the world speed record 9 times! There's a Hennessy whiskey commercial on tv about him. Very cool in my opinion! http://www.ispot.tv/ad/76gH/hennessy-vs-the-fastest-man-on-earth

  8. Sir Malcom is a true ledgend for sure, a very interesting story.

I thought it was a 34 ford too, but the rivets in the cowl and door handle made me think it wasn't.

That was in San Diego on University Avenue and the car was for advertising the "speakeasy" sort of style inside the club. There was a "gun moll" mannequin inside the car.I remember the day I saw them remove the car and thought, "there goes the neighborhood".

The impact forced the steering column to the passenger side and that is not Bill Hickman, that's the mechanic, Rolf Wuetherich. Bill Hickman was driving the Ford station wagon with Sandy Roth as the passenger.
It was Sandy who took the photos.

And if you enlarge the photo, you will see that J.D. is still in the car and covered in a dark blanket.
