    It took a little tweaking of the dies to get a nice profile. They were made with a grinder. Nothing fancy. The nice part of this style machine is that you can adjust how deep it hits.

    I'm pretty sure it's considered a 2000 lb kick punch for the guy who wondered, but it's a pretty compact machine.

    I wonder if you could do something like that with a planishing hammer set-up?

    That's funny, I watched the video and the first thing I thought was " That hammer sounds like a Model A". Good work. I'll give you $28 for it!

  11. Damn - I used to have a small little punch press like that (many decades ago), no I wish I had it to use as a poor-mans power hammer! Nice stuff and great article.

    They are commonly called a punch press.

    Here's a simple trip hammer built for blacksmithing. Should be easy to modify the design for sheet metal shaping with dies.
