  6. I agree. While most of the cars in this thread are fine as "cars", many of them I don't really look at as "mild customs." Cars that are completely stock with a only a lowering job don't do much for me. And no custom car should ever have a sun visor! The majority of the mild customs of the 1950s were much more imaginative than what goes on now. Grill changes, side trim changes, taillight changes, interesting wheel covers (rather than the default '57 Cadillac wheelcovers that everyone has used since the 1980s), etc. I like some of the ultra mild cars, but on the whole I think it shows a lack of imagination. Some of the early Larry Watson painted cars were really mild, but they more than made up for that with the wonderful paint schemes he did. That's just my 2 cents.

^^ Kickstand lake pipes, there's an old trend you never seem to see anymore. Great pic.

  13. That's the only pic I have. If I'm ever lucky enough to own a 55 I think I'd build a clone of that car.

I have been drooling over this little gem since I stumbled across it on Kustomrama. I can't find much other than the fact that it was painted by Watson, owned by a guy named Jerry Koeller. One day, when my '55 Customline grow up, it will be like this:D

Stance, caps, pin striping that you cant see in this pic, laminated knobs inside, thru bumper style exhaust tips, "mild custom"

Back in the day it was very common to buy a stock appearing car and turn it into a custom . Little by little. The first and easiest was a different pair of hubcaps. Then maybe a good sounding pair of duals with glasspacks. A set of lowering blocks in the rear. After a while, the hood and trunk trim was removed and primerspots were common cause paint required money which was hard to come by back then. So a lot of cars never got to this stage. This was a very common back then . But unnoticed by many and hard to see in pictures.

  23. Toast, I love your car.... it's a great looking MILD CUSTOM.

  24. Well in that case I should of thrown up a pic of the gorgeous tuck n roll interior, Appletons, knobs. Also the whole car was already lowered,I just meant the ass end was coming down two more inches.

The jacket laying in the back is the club jacket from 1954 and so is the plaque . So I think it's safe to say that it belongs.

A 210 4 door hardtop! Not exactly a cookie cutter tri-5 chevy. I have only seen a few of these. Great color combo: subtle and classy. What is it? The door jamb gives it away though. Looks like it was originally that screaming bright lime greeen or maybe Crocus Yellow. How about a front shot? The guys from Vintage Chevy Club of America would dig this car!

    That car is gorgeous !!!

  27. Thanks for the compliments. Here is a shot where you can see the paint. 2 nd pic is just a couple days ago after the ass got lowered an extra two inches. Didn't have the skirts back on it yet. The little badges around the front plate just came off the other day. It is my grandfather's car. 1394419333999.jpg 1394419352518.jpg 1394419399447.jpg

Well, Gramps has great taste. And I bet he is influenzed by the bombs, as I am. I can recall cars being refered to as "assesorized customs", a good description of the 34-54 chevy bombs, I think. Lake pipes would look great on the 210.
