Primary interest pre 1950 big car and midget racing history and pictures. "Caageless" thread caught my attention. My dad drove 1926 to 1947....and lived through it!!

Thanks for all the welcomes!! The size of this board is mind boggling. I'm trying to figure it out. Is there a thread for racing history?

    Hello 37 Kid
ELTO stands for Evinrude Light Twin Outboard. Yes, a boat outboard. It was designed for boat racing and adapted to midgets mid 1930's. It's a 4 cylinder opposed two cycle engine. It was fueled by alcohol and castor oil. It was a big gun in the late 1930's and early 40's. It ran at extremely high RPM's. It would foul spark plugs if run at less than 4000 RPM's. Because of this the outboards were always started last. My dad drove Dick Harroun's outboard to the Michigan championship in 1939. Dick Harroun is the son of Ray Harroun of Indy fame.
What else would you like to know?
