Is the car finished? If so it would be nice to see some photos. Great looking sedan.

Is there a pic of the metal strip, and rubber insert that was used?

005.jpg Here`s a picture of the rubber insert and metal strip that was used. It`s the original factory type that was used on these cars when they were new.

    Looks awesome!

We met a few years ago when I bought some red '56 Vette door panels off you. I got to tour the shop and some work on the Zephyr. Really amazing stuff and it was great meeting you and Steve.

    Beautiful work here!

One question, I'm guessing the vinyl must be waterproof enough that moisture doesn't get to that plywood? Or did you put a waterproofing finish on the plywood just in case?

This is what we used. It`s windshield sealant that we use in our glass shop.

Yes, we gave the plywood a coat of clear polyurethane. I think it was Minwax. The vinyl came from Macs Auto parts. It was what would have been on the car from the factory.

I think it is perfect now I'm not a fan of an excessive chop I prefer them stock hight or a little off the top ,
Good work on the roof center too it looks fantastic .

Because so many people have asked about the top insert I thought I would give credit to the guy who told us how to do it this way. His name is Buster Henderson . Buster has built many cars over the years and is always willing to share his knowledge with others.
I would also like to say that the reason I post the things we do at our shop is not to say "look what I can do", but to share ideas and help other guys learn how to do things that they may never have seen done before. Sharing ideas helps us all build better cars.

Thanks for sharing this with us. Showing that trick with the top insert is going to help a lot of guys who were in a quandary as to what they wanted to to with their top inserts.
