well i finally got the radio that i wanted.
Now its year and model Correct plus also got the much needed radio bezel for the am/fm set up.
I had to trade my old am radio and the bezel plus one more radio plus chash.
But at the end i am very happy to have done it.
Now to save my pennys again to send this radio off to get rebuilt.
Next on the list is power windows

On a side note...since it's not a '50 you're going to be ostracized until you finish the build...and then they'll take notice.
Gonna drive my Mercury on down the road...

Nice car. My mom had one and it was the first car I ever drove.
She didn't, however, know I was driving it at the time; which was good as I was only 15.
Not old enough to get a license, but old enough to duplicate a key. ;)

from what i know the Monterey's (marauders ect..) is the same frame plan as the Galaxies.
Even the doors are the same the difference is that the Mercurys have the bolt on panel for the top chrome trim.

Cool, my dad had a 63 merc monterey with a 352 2 bbl. He asked me to put a new carb on it so I went to the bone yard and grabbed a 4bbl intake and put a holley 750 double pumper on it. Even with 85,000 miles I took it up to 120 mph no problem. Of course my dad wasn't with me.

Good luck resuming your project. I'm still struggling with the brakes on both of mine.

I will change mine in the front to disc brakes.I bought last year the brakes from a 1078 cougar. I have friends they did the change on a 64 Galaxie. Drives much better/ I will also install a pass mirror and move the mirror to the door

Do any of you guys know an ok way to adjust the kick-down linkage on these without a pressure guage?

    You dont need press gauge.
These have vacuum modulator for pressure adjust.
You can adjust the kick-down linkage just where you want or even take it away.Wont broke the trans.
