i didnt like the way the quarter window ended so i made a new piece



then i got mad about the pie cuts in the sail panel .. made a new one .



all tiged in

It sort of sounds like everyone is curious about your metal-working skills and the steps you take to get the amazing results you're getting.

If you have time, maybe you could throw-up some pictures showing each step you take (and tools used) to go from butt joint to metal finished perfection. I'm sure a lot of people on here would benefit from it.

What settings do you use on your syncrowave 250?
What size and kind of tungsten?
What filler wire if any?
Copper backer?

If I ever get half as good as you, i'll be happy.
Keep the pictures (and knowledge) coming.

Flop you are easily in the top 2 or 3 tin wizards on the hamb, among a crowded field of great craftsmen, as mentioned many of us learning from you would love more "during" shots to learn how to get to the"after"...we are in your debt, thanks!

Flop when you weld the gas tanks in solid, what do you do with the filler panel between it and the windshield? Weld it in somehow, or bolt it in?

 

You do some crazy work, that chop is sick! So damn low and your metal work is amazing. Can't wait to see more. NICE!

generic mild steel rod
no copper backer . thats an old wives tale that does nothing in my opinion . if you have a gap big enough to use that redo the panel !!

theres not much to show during . a proud tig weld then grind hammer file hammer

raw i will weld it in . but it will be messed with a bit to try and get a little more out of the windshield .

well we are suposed to get crushed with snow so i had to stock up on supplies !



well the drip rail was beat up . major pits etc so i decided to make a whole new piece





shes not a straight panel . has a slight curve to it

real subtle change is i dropped the back of the drip rail down in the back around 3/8th giving more visual height to my roof .

 

Not only looks good,it compliments the roof well.Also will help to get rid of Mother Natures "drool"easier.

the shop is pretty crazy right now so ive only had about 1 hour in the last 2 weeks to work on it

got some more welding done !

thanks folks . been a while but got some work roughed in on the back yesterday . also the strips will be shaved where the body bolts together .



still needs finish work it was just welded and ground down

shaved the strip that bolt the body together

i did it in 2pieces because i didnt want the whole body flopping apart





i completly hand filed out the roof . its not done because i was to lazy after 8 hours on the car to remove a piece of wood !

 

So, the 32 is a customer car and this one is for you? Very nice work in any case. Keep the pictures coming. We like pictures!
