No splines, key way tapered. Complete. I've only seen splined before? Is this an early conversion?

    Thank you guys.

  2. Looks like a stock Ford pick-up open drive banjo.

Dick Spadaro sold me an NOS yoke last year. Give him a call.

I see people spending big $$ for aftermarket open drive conversions. The stock pieces are as good as any. I scored a complete center section for my A pickup and it had a 3:54 ring and pinion.

The real kicker here is the pinion being threaded to hold the yoke on vs the splined pinion with a hole for the pin that holds the driveshaft on.

42-47 Ford PU. good item, complete axles are a little wide for early fender cars but center section can be exchanged with earlier 35-40 axles and tubes for narrower open drive rear.

I've built two of them. Running one in my T-Bucket.No trouble if you don't get crazy.

What is the gear ratio, of the ring and pinion set?

exactly.. thought that might be rare.

  15. They come in several different ratios. Lowest was the '42 4 cylinder pickup (basically a 9N tractor engine) that was offered as an option in '41 and '42. 6 cylinder trucks were geared lower than V8. Best I remember, the V8 pickups came with 3.78 or optional 4.11. I think the 4.11 was used on 6 cylinder.

3:54 gearing. Are these going to be ok behind my mild 40 Flathead t-5 conversion. .AV8 car...? Or should I get rid and go with the 6 spline 3:77 gears?

  17. well, I have a 3.78 in my tudor with 750-16 rear tires behind a Y block and it seems to be a great ratio so far.
