Recently ordered a 4" rear lowering kit for my '53. I ordered by phone and expressed that my only concern was all the reviews I've read where people had insane lead times and were missing parts in their kits. They told me that they were under new management and took steps to alleviate those problems. They weren't kidding. I'm happy to report that I received my kit inside of 2 weeks and it was complete with springs, shocks, shackles, and all the hardware. Everything in typical bad ass quality. 5 stars so far Jamco...Now let's see how it all fits!
This is good to hear. They have great stuff but their reputation really took a beating for quite a while. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I too ordered a set of blocks and shocks for my 54' and had them within two weeks. Both worked great.
Jamco has always offered a good product but due to a number of factors their customers suffered all kinds of excuses, delays and miscommunication in the last few years. I am pleased to hear the have new management and hopefully they are successful with damage control. I have had both good and bad experience with Jamco...Given the advent of new management I will give them another chance when I need their services. HRP
From what I've read, their reputation is so bad that a lot of people will never go back. If they really do finally have things worked out, I wish them well. Only time will tell.
I bought from Jamco a few years ago and it worked out well. The parts were top quality and shipped quickly. I need more parts but have been hesitant to order from them because of all the bad reports that have surfaced. Hopefully their business is back on track and being operated properly - in other words, like a business should where the focus is on the customer.
I wanted to order from them about a year ago, but after all the bad reviews I decided against it. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Just a thought but if any of the Jamco employees or new management want to improve their reputation I would suggest they get in touch with Ryan and talk to him about becoming a Alliance Vendor. I believe that would be a big boost to their credibility. HRP
They have already been dropped as an Alliance vendor once I would think they need a bit more of a new track record than two guys getting their stuff on time to be reinstated. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I wouldnt even order a sandwhich from them. Great, a couple guys got what they ordered,,,, AND? They were always that way. Ten guys would order and it was perfect. Ten other guys would order and it was a living hell. Sorry, when I order parts, Im not looking to "roll the dice", I can do that in the casinos.
Wow, I didn't know they were dropped as Alliance Vendors in the past. I always wondered why they weren't, but chocked it up to not wanting to be on a forum full of bad reviews. The reason I decided to try them out at all was because I was reading between the lines of all the bad posts. They all ended with, "great quality product." So I rolled the dice and was happy to see that they delivered as promised. I think what they improved on was the relationship they have with their spring vendor. Jamco is located in Southern California but their springs come from somewhere in the Midwest. In the past, this could've been the bottleneck. I thought they manufactured all their own stuff, either way, they put together a top notch kit.
I am running their front and rear sway bars on my 49 cpe. Handles like a sports car. Just installed their conversion to use GM style shims for front end alignment. A snap to install. My cpe is lowered almost 5".
X2. I would give them a chance, but leave lots of time. I was on Shoeboxford this week and a long time member posted on his experience with buying the Ultra cruise kit in the fall to let people know how much things have improve or not. The springs came within a week, the A-arms and disks a week later. Great, or so he thought, but it took another 8 weeks to get the bushings and other parts to put it together. The instruction sheet and parts list never came despite many calls. (Hard to know what's missing when the "kit" is drop shipped from several vendors without a packing list and instructions.) So my plan is to leave myself 3 months when I decide to do my front end and to see if I can get the instruction sheet from another member to know what I'm missing. No one complains about the parts when they get them, which is more than I can say about some other aftermarket or special interest car vendors.
I ordered a lowering kit for my Thunderbird in late Febuary, so far I've received 2 shocks, two bump stops and 2 leaf springs. no bill of materials telling me what was still on order, I called and was told that "parts" were on backorder. No one @ jamco seemed to give me a straight answer. emailed them from my work email last week and got an instant response which asked me to take pictures of what I received, I thought I was getting some where. They told me they would respond same day with a status update and that wouldn't happen. I wouldn't use them again. I'm guessing when everyhing does arrive it won't be a complete kit anyway. I'm not on a Dead line, but I'd like to know that I will receive everything I paid for.
Same old S**t. Did you do a HAMB search before you sent them your money? Best of luck -good thing your not on a deadline.
A friend ordered stuff for his 59 Caddy over 12 weeks ago... was told 2 to 3 weeks when he placed the order... Jamco is still CRAP to deal with!!!! Buyer beware!!!
It just amazes me that anyone still deals with them, but then I still see the Bumper Boyz at a lot of car shows.
I just ordered 2 in drop springs for my 50 chevy from coilspringspecialties.com they have a quote form you fill out or call and tell them what you need. They custom made my springs and had them in 4 days (paid extra cause i needed them asap) unbelievably easy to work with. I suggest them to anyone. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
