Guys, I am new to this site so I can't quite maneuver through the site yet. I was told that there is a thread somewhere on here that shows the installation of 56' F100 headlight trim rings on a 57' ford.
    Thanks for the help!

I had a magazine(think it was R&C), not sure what year, or issue but I kept it for years. Sent copies to a buddy of mine, cause he has a 57 Ford 300 custom, and I have always thought that the only thing that a 57 Ford needed to improve on as far as stock, was those head lights that stick out too far. If I remember right it was a 54 Ford F100 headlight ring, and possibly the headlight bucket. I tried to type in 57 Ford headlight change on the R&C site, but got no results. I'll keep looking.

    Hotrodder,
I appreciate the effort, i agree with the head lights. I have a 60's era debugging kit on it now, but just looking at possibly a new look for the car.

  11. I've seen it done and I guess it's all about taste. We don't like how it came from the factory but in the "How To" it says save the ring so you can put it on something it don't belong on. Sounds about right. Factory Frenched isn't as good as Custom Frenched is the way I read it.
    Funny how that works.

I never wanted to do that to the fenders since nice ones are scarce... but, I agree they look better when they don't protrude out as far... I had one that with chrome Jeep rings but they weren't a perfect fit and I like body color... I've always loved the Barris styling tip that was in/on the AMT 3 in 1 box or directions... It showed a hooded headlight rim like on a 53 Studerbacker the headlight hood angle matched the fender angle... Easier drawn than finding the right headlight ring...

    Exstreamliner,
Those don't look concaved like the 56' F100 conversion. Any idea what they are?

What would you paint stainless with? I would hate to paint them and have then peel away constantly!

you can look at the rings off a 41-48 ford.
They are 9" outside and are almost flat

I dont agree. Yes I like the look of F100 trim rings too, but nuthing beats the freaky factory custom look of the original lights. Yeah, ok, you won't love'em from the start, but after looking at them for years, they just can't be beat. they are original. they are unique, they are like factory tunneled.
I lov'em truly. just saying. 57 Fords rule my book.;)

48ford, I like the concave look of the 56' f100 gives it, I have a 60's vintage debugging kit on it now, which gives it the flat profile, just time for a change!

djfordmanjack, to each his own, I guess.

The bugeye look was always my first dislike for the 57 Ford although it doesn't bug me like it used to.

  30. Guess I am one of the few that like everything about the 57 Ford. That is one of the distinguishing features of it, that keeps it from looking like some kind of brand x wannabe. The custom stuff looks just ok, but I prefer the stock stuff.
