That is a common rot area, pull the bed and weld in patches no big deal .If I wanted it would go $5000-7500

Based on the pics shown looks like a older restoration or is that the original finish? $5000-7500 sounds about right. Closer to $5000 with the structure damage. Trying to respond before some idiot replies with the stupid response "whatever your willing to pay" which is no help whatsoever.

In our region high end price on a 39 is about $18,000 - $22,000 in stock form. $8000 would be too much needing everything redone in my opinion.

  10. If you're content with repairing the frame only, and then just driving it/keeping it, I would think up to $6K range would be a fair deal.
If you intend to buy it and do a complete restoration on it, with possible sale later..less than that.

  12. Better pass then, a 75 year old pickup with frame damage is a project.

    Definitely pass then.

  14. Precision Coachworks makes the pieces to repair the frame. '35-'40 frames are famous for rusting out where the back legs of the X meet the side rails.

Most of the price estimates seem to be in the ballpark, however most in that price range are also always a project...

Don't know what do? Fish or cut bait, put up or shut up. This the HAMB, not Dear Abby. You got knowledgable advice form some smart guys, and you already have a 38 and don't want a project. You have already answered your own question. Now go find a clue.

  22. Get another chassis and fix it just how you want it.
Painted pretty, detailed, brake up grades everything. Then put that truck on it.

It's a project no matter how you look at it.
And you might as well finish your Vicky first

  23. Jeez, shit or get off of the pot.
You've gotten some good advise, now make your choice. Do you want it, with it's issues, which seem fixable in a day or so, or not?

Buy new frame, switch everything over and replace what's needed. It's a project two ways till Sunday.

Then you do not need another project, finish what you started first then move on to others.I have done that before and it gets overwhelming so just walk away from the truck and head straight into your garage.
