Hi I am an Aussie that has just imported into Australia, a 1950 Olds Rocket 88 V8 324 into Australia but I am having trouble  matching and finding the Chassis and Engine no's as I need them for rego. It has a door jam tag but this doesn't match the DMV id no and both don't match the DMV transfer no. If anyone no's where they are located please let me no but also been told the tag is also the chassis no and could the DMV id no be for the other engine 303. Cheers Dax

tag is probably on the firewall with the body/chassis info if anything like the 55 (from memory mine is left hand side and pretty east to see), engine # will be on the left hand side of the block at the front, if you look down between the first and middle exhaust port at the block you should see it there (again from memory) otherwise have a search on here.

Mine has the id tag in the door jam and no engine no on the block between 1 and 3 as I think it could have been a crate engine as its a 324 not the 303 that should be in it. Do you no where I will find the chassic no or is the tag the chassis no too

hmm you got me beat then, not too sure on the chassis # location but I'm sure they will have stamped one, so you are saying with the engine you can see the flat area where the # should be stamped but there is nothing there ? (its kinda difficult to see at the best of times).

There is deffinatly nothing on the pad between 1-3 cylinders and It will be so hard to stamp one on there as you cant get the swing of the hammer to hit it hard enough to leave an imprint, it would have to about 450mm long to be able to hit it with force and still no luck finding where chassis no is even after contacting the DMV and CHP in the USA
