I have a '53 merc montery 2dr sedan that is in need of a headliner...... I had a shop in charlotte, nc quote me $1200 since it needs the glass removed(at least the rear one) & has windlacing.... anyone have experience with these cars & know if this is the going rate? recommend a shop in/near charlotte? thanks ks
I already have the headliner pre-made and the windlace for my '54 Ford, local shops have quoted me $300-$350 to install the headliner and windlace including R&R of the rear glass. However, each shop also has a glass man come in to do the R&R you will need to provide the rear glass seal contact: http://www.steelerubber.com/ for that.DO NOT remove the old headliner unless you label all the bows as to the order they are in installed. This is a pretty fair video of what is involved doing a Ford products headliner with bows http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0PayYCQcAg
thanks for the info & link.... where did you get your headliner from? I can find material but no pre-sewn kits for a 2 door.....
