I like these. They call them bottle caps. These are repo's. They fit Ford rims with INNER numbs 8-1/4 ID. Factory they are correct for your truck and they came painted.
Well that kind of seals the deal for me, this is what I have pictured. I will be going with black wheel and no white walls though. Now all I have to do is find a pristine set ... I havent seen any repros yet. Thanks for the pic! And thanks to the rest of you that contributed ... and to those that didnt care for the post, Ill try to do better next time LOL!
To answer the OP's question, 15" "innie" wheels were used on F-100's from 1955 until 1967, so any truck caps pre-'67 will work only on innie wheels. Ford Cars used outies from the early 50's. I have ~'70 Ford Truck wheels (outies), with '52- '54 Ford Car caps and like the look. I'm probably going to add trim rings.
Hub cap is the little approx 2 1/2" cover over the wheel bearing on the "hub", everything else is a cover. The way I see it.
Nice truck!! i never heard the term poverty caps until a year or so ago. always hubcaps or dog dish. my dog is eating out of a chevy chevette one now another dog stole his ford one a few months ago. seriously i have had some ford ones that were just a little larger or smaller than others they fit the rims but are too loose to run. this is with early 70s fords. from about 60 up mopar made two sizes i think g.m. one size and newer 80s ford trucks larger. i had the dog dish ones on my 71 dodge tk for years but recently changed to 55 chrysler wheelcovers.
Isn't that a bearing cap? Or a grease cap? Or a dust cover? Where I come from any removable wheel cover is called a hub cap.
Well since this thread came back up I ended up going a different route ... I do have baby moons on an off topic ride though ... I hope its OK to call them baby moons, maybe poverty moons? LOL!
Just for the record, the first time I heard "poverty caps" used was by an old fart who (according to this thread) should have known better..... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
