  3. Grandfather was a rural mail carrier in the "teens". Used a horse and buggy, roads were too rough for an automobile.

  25. Early re-purposing. Back when it was done, that '40 probably weren't worth a whole lot. Not much different back then, than seeing a '04 or so Crown Vic donked out or slammed today.

    But at least that '40 was likely modified to serve a need, check out the chains on back of it; it likely hauled!
