I couldn't find a radiator hose to wind around the oil fill the way that I wanted.

    So, I joined two hoses.

Good job on the gear indicator. The little details like that seem to take the longest lol

    Vroom, vroom....

    The idle is high...

    The timing needs set...

There is no exhaust, just a foot of pipe from each exhaust manifold.

    But, it runs!

I spent some time working on the rear of the car.

I installed air shocks, in case I need to haul around some fat chicks.

In the stock location, the shocks would be nearly horizontal, so I drilled
new holes and moved the upper mounts about 4 inches rearward on both sides.

Next, I worked on the rear gravel pan.

    The fit was horrible.

It was about a full inch too wide, so I cut it down the middle and narrowed it.

The redneck in me puts a trailer hitch on everything that I build.

I won't be hauling much, but a class I hitch would be nice if I want to flat
tow the roadster, or pull a small camper.

    So, I whipped this up....

It bolts to the back of the rear crossmember.

The class I receiver slides into a hole thru the middle of the bumper.

The hole is cover by a hinged license plate frame.

    And...

the license plate frame bolts to the chevy plate surround.

    Hey Rich,

What are you doing for a PCV valve, vent, oil fill, etc with those script valve covers and no fill Edelbrock intake?

    Thanks,
    Ed

The engine came with an edelbrock 2701 intake, I sold it and bought an edelbrock 2703 (this one has the oil fill tube)

I drilled a hole in the the rear of the drivers side valve cover, and installed a baffled grommet for the pcv valve.

Do you have any pictures of this, specifically the baffled grommet and where you located the hole? I have the same valve covers on my 41. I have a PCV screwed into the back of the intake manifold with a breather/fill in the front. It seems to work OK, but I think it would work more effectively if the PCV were drawing air through the valve covers.

    Thanks,
    Ed

I've been thinking of moving the rear shock mounts on my 'box too - with 3" blocks , they're pretty horizontal . I've also been kicking around the air shock idea too , thanks for the info ! Did they come with the hoses & stuff (I assume they came as a pair?) ?

The trailer hitch install looks awesome !

The next thing to tackle was the hood.

The original 49 hood suffered from the usual 49 problems, kinked in the hood brace area, broken brace, etc.

The general consensus is that the 50 hinges and brace are a better design, so I have been on the lookout for 50 hinges and hood.

I caught a guy locally parting out a 50, so I grabbed the hinges.

These aren't easy to install with the fenders on, but I was determined to not remove the fenders, since I just set the gaps where I wanted them.

    Finally, got them installed.

Next, I picked up a 50 hood that had spent the last 30 years in the attick of a body shop.

It wasn't perfect, but still pretty nice.

    So, I promptly stripped it.
